Sound & Sight ... to Copyright !

Welcome to the spot in cyberspace with a wealth of information on the Educational Rights Collective of Canada – the ERCC. This is a virtual place to learn about the rights and obligations that apply when Canadian educational institutions want to copy and use radio or television programs for educational use in classrooms. The Copyright Act permits this as long as there is compliance with important legal requirements. Copyright owners and educational institutions can find the information and the tools they need to fully utilize the opportunities offered to them by the Educational Rights Tariff. This too is where you can find out about the Educational Rights Tariff and its role in the process.

ERCC is a non-profit Canadian copyright collective society. You can find more about us at About ERCC.

Copyright owners with content broadcast on radio or television or transmitted on the Internet for reception in Canada are invited to visit Copyright Owners, and refer to the Copyright Owners FAQ for information particularly relevant to them.

Educational Institutions may link to Educational Institutions, or refer to the Educational Institutions FAQ for details particularly relevant to them.

Explore both FAQs for the broadest explanation of the off-air copying right and its implications for you.
